Beauty in the Sky

Yesterday while driving, I saw two things, one right after another, that got me thinking a little. First I saw a bird in flight. This was a large bird, some kind of bird of prey, and it was moving slowly and gracefully in front of me. In my car, speeding down the highway, it didn’t take me long to pass him, but I stared through my windshield at this beautiful creature and the majesty of flight.

Just after the bird was out of sight, a small airplane made its way from one side of my windshield to the other. It was clunky and uninteresting.

It was at this moment that I couldn’t help but think about how amazing God’s creation is. We pride ourselves on our technology and our ability, but nothing we as humans can create can even come close to the things that God has already created for us. Our airplanes and skyscrapers and hand-held devices pale in comparison to the simple beauty that God has placed all around us in the world that He made for us. Sometimes we need to take the focus off ourselves and what we can do, and just look around at what He has already done for us.
