Little Girls

We found out this week that our house will be graced with another little girl.  We already have a wonderful little three-year-old girl, and we are excited about keeping the X chromosomes coming.  This means that our house will be full with lots of tea parties and twirling, princesses and pirouettes.

Assuming that everything goes as planned, this beautiful baby girl will complete our family.  My wife and I both came from families of two children, both of us with brother-sister sibling combinations.  In preparation for the sonogram’s reveal, I constantly said that it didn’t matter to me if the new baby was a boy or a girl.  However, there was a fear in the back of my mind that I was going to be disappointed if we didn’t have one of each just like both our parents did.  I was relieved to find that there was no such disappointment, I am very happy about having two girls.

I believe that God does things in our lives, including giving us the children we have, for a reason.  Some men get all girls to teach them compassion and patience (as they wait for their turn in the bathroom).  I believe for me, God looked into my heart and my character and knew that this would be the perfect family for me to raise in a Godly environment.  It’s like He said “Eric, I’ve made you in just such a way that you have the ability to do your part mold these two girls into awesome women of God.”  God is directing my life and using me for amazing things, allowing me to do what I do best.  We don’t all do everything, but God is doing the same in your life too as He uses your strengths for His glory.  If we embrace the person that God made us to be and the life that He has blessed us with, we start to fit right into the plan He has.
