Spread Good Vibes

It’s a New Year, and I’m not usually one for New Year’s Resolutions.  How many times have we vowed to lose weight or exercise or quit whatever bad habit we seem to keep carrying around?  How many treadmills and gym memberships have we purchased as a nation this New Year?  How many packs of Nicorette?  Here we are at the beginning of this year, and I’ve heard lots of people say “I hope 2013 brings better things to you than 2012.”

But the truth is… it probably won’t.

Nope, 2013 will probably be pretty much like 2012.  Which was probably pretty much like 2011.

We have this idea that if life gives us happy things then we will be happy.  But life doesn’t give us as many happy things as we feel would be necessary.  Life gives us a lot of lemons.  We’ve all said that when life gives us lemons we make lemonade, and what could be happier than lemonade.  And yet we’re not even happy with our lemonade (which I totally don’t understand because lemonade is awesome).
The truth is that 2013 is really one big question mark.  Nobody knows what is going to happen.  But we have a choice to respond based on the circumstances and events of this year, or we can choose to be positive no matter what.  God has revealed to me that one of the things He wants me to do with my life is to give people hope, but I realized that throughout much of 2012 I was letting the circumstances and events get me down, steal my joy, and make me bitter, angry, and depressed.  That’s not going to happen this year.  I’m choosing to spread good vibes, to be positive no matter the situation.  I’m going to rejoice in my salvation and give the world faith, hope, and love, no matter what it gives me.

But I could use some lemons because after all that talk about lemonade I’m kinda thirsty.
