It's Not You, It's Me

Everybody has that person in their life that drives them crazy.  You know who I’m talking about.  I’m sure it didn’t take very long for a person (or maybe a whole list of people) to pop into your head.  It seems like everything they say is annoying or everything they do is offensive.  It’s like they are trying to make you angry every single time you interact.
This got me thinking.  If everything they do offends me, annoys me, or makes me mad, is it possible that it’s not really the things they do at all?  I mean, their choices have some contribution here, but if I’m upset every single time, without fail, then maybe the problem is really me.  Maybe I’ve decided to be offended by whatever that person does before they even do it.  Maybe I’ve decided to be angry over what that person says before they even say it.  This would explain how I’m annoyed every time, not just when they do something really annoying.  This would also explain why I ignore all the good things they do and see only things that drive me up the wall.

It’s time to undecided.  Undeciding is no simple task, but it is the only way to be rid of that constant gnawing frustration at those people who get under your skin.  I need to change my attitude about the people who bother me because it’s not really about what they do or say at all, it’s really all about my attitude toward them.  If I undecided to be annoyed, offended, or angry, and instead decide to see them as someone whom God loves enough to send His Son to die for, then my perspective changes and I start to see them differently.
