Feelings

Guys don’t ever want to talk about them.  Girls seem to swim in an Olympic sized pool filled with them.  They are our feelings.  Sometimes we love them; like that time your crush revealed that they like you or the excitement of scoring the winning touchdown.  Sometimes, however, we wish we could just shut them off; like the when your crush confides in you about their crush and thanks you for being such a good friend.

Feelings are powerful, especially in our teenage years.  But feelings change, and the things that caused those feelings, both good and bad, can change as well.  I know many of us right now are experiencing a constant barrage of feelings, from loneliness to happiness to forgetfulness (ok, that last one’s not really a feeling but I experience it all the time).  But no matter what you are feeling, those feelings are not a substitute for the truth.
The truth is that God loves you, even if your dating relationship is going south.  And He is here for you, even if recently you’ve been turning your back on Him.  He cares for you, even though He knows all about the mistakes you’ve made.  No amount of feeling bad or sorry or insecure changes His love; those feelings can’t make Him love you any more or any less.  So no matter what you are feeling, know that God’s love is the only constant in a world of endless changes.
