As I was preparing my talk for this Wednesday night, I realized something. Well, I guess I already knew it, but I hadn’t thought about it. This Wednesday is the last OASIS service of 2011 because as we get closer to Christmas we have some special programming for the whole church.
This has been a really good year. We’ve talked about lots of issues; from dating in a series called “Relationships that Work” to prejudice in “Erase-ism” to loving God with everything in “Expedition.” We’ve seen students connect to God through those and all of our messages as well as through the exciting worship that we have. We’ve seen students discuss Bible stories, theology, and life application in our Sunday School classes, getting to know the Scriptures in a more intimate way. We’ve seen our Life Groups take off, with students growing in their relationships with other students in our group and together taking part in exciting activities and service projects.
2011 was a good year for our church and for our youth ministry. I am so blessed to serve at Calvary, and I look forward to what God has in store for us in 2012. Until then, have a wonderful Christmas season.
