What a Morning

Let me tell you how my day began. First, I woke up about an hour late because I forgot to reset my alarm. I was so confused why Meghan was already in the shower, normally I’m the early bird, but I was too out of it to figure out what was going on. Then, when I realized that I was an hour behind I went to jump in the shower, and my nose started bleeding. Having just returned from a much more humid southeast Texas, our bodies have been in shock getting used to the dryness up here again. Meghan had to take Katie to first period and then to her daycare while I tried to figure out how I was going to get myself to an ear, nose, and throat specialist as I lost blood for about forty-five minutes.

Eventually everything calmed down, and I was able to go about my normal daily routine, but I realized this morning how I take that routine for granted. I sometimes complain about all I have to do in the morning, but I’ve got it worked down to a science and it actually moves quite smoothly. However, when something comes in and messes up my plan and throws my morning into chaos, it can be quite an experience.

Chaos has a way of making it into our lives all the time, and there’s no way to plan for it and nothing we can do about it. But we have a God who lives above the fray and can give us peace in the midst of that chaos. This morning as things were not going my way, I used it as an opportunity to take some extra time to call out to Him, and while it wasn’t a perfect morning by any stretch of the imagination, He gave me a peace and He took care of my needs.
