Laughing with God

I love to make people laugh, I always have.  But there is no one I love to make laugh more than my wife.  You see, other people are easier to impress, but she has heard all my jokes and she’s used to my skewed view on things.  In fact, there are times when I make the same joke over and over again, and while other people laugh every time, she hears it so many times that not only does she not laugh, but she usually rolls her eyes.

And while it’s harder to make her laugh, it is much more rewarding.  I love nothing more than hearing her crack up over something I’ve said.  It makes me feel so great because I know that it’s not some kind of courtesy laugh, she really appreciates my sense of humor.  She understood the reference or noticed the wit, and it struck her as genuinely funny.  There is no person that I want to make laugh more than her.
I think that God laughs, not at us but with us.  Our lives can inspire joy in Him; in fact that is what we were created to do.  In the way that I seek to make my wife laugh, I want to do the same with God.   I want my life to make God smile.  I want to share my joy with Him.  I want to make the kind of choices today that allow us to laugh together because of the great relationship that we can have.
