I overslept this morning. There is nothing quite like that instantaneous shot of adrenaline that happens when you realized you slept an hour longer than you intended. You will never wake up faster and you will never move faster that early in the morning than when you oversleep, I’ve taken showers in places where you had to pay a quarter for every minute of water, but I’ve never showered faster than I did this morning.
Some of us thrive on that kind of energy. We move from thrill to thrill, and often only operate under that kind of motivation. We wait until the last minute to work on that paper and do it all the night before. We find more and more dangerous pass times to give us that much needed adrenaline. We buy more and eat more and play more and watch more and live for more and more and more because what we have no longer seems like enough. And yet, the thrill that comes from all of these things seems to sparkle and fade, leaving us empty and in need of a new rush.
Jesus wants us to live for Him, and to find our excitement, our rush, our adventure in Him. Truly following Jesus is the most amazing adventure of our lives, and it will take you places you never dreamed of. But best of all it means that what we are living for is more than just an instant of adrenaline, but a lifetime of fulfillment and an eternity of grace.
To join us on the “Expedition” make sure you are a part of OASIS this Wednesday Night
