I can remember participating in SYATP as a teenager myself. I remember only a handful of people, meeting around the flagpole to pray together, overhearing comments made by passers-by. I remember one year where I was the only person at the pole that morning, saying a silent prayer as I stood alone and then making my way to class.
The experience I’ve had in Pampa is quite different to how I grew up. I have seen hundreds of students gather for prayer here, and it can be quite encouraging to see how many other believers at your school are willing to make that kind of stand for Christ. Keep in mind, while having hundreds of students meet to pray is an awesome thing, what matters more is the difference those students make for God throughout the rest of the day. You may stand with hundreds at the flag pole, but you may have to stand alone in Math class when someone offers to give you the answers. Will you stand then?
