We will be on our next
trip to Walt Disney World in less than 100 days. That’s right folks, double digits. The countdown began 365 days out, and so to
only have 99 days left is a big deal. Of
course everything is planned and everyone is excited. All that is left to do is wait (and pay for
it).
I know that some of you
are glad for us. You know how much
it means to us, you see what we see in that magical place, and you are happy. For others, though, the feeling is more Grumpy that Happy.
Maybe there is
jealousy, wishing you were able to go, and so while you’re pleased for us
really you are upset over the whole thing.
Some are angry because you feel that I’m gloating (which I’m not trying
to do, I just love talking about Disney) or wasting my money. And for others it’s confusion. You can’t understand why we live this way,
why this thing is so important to us, why we would do this every year.
I know that not
everyone understands our Disney obsession, and maybe some would fundamentally
disagree with our spending our money that way.
Trust me, I get that.
And truth be told, we
don’t understand why somebody wouldn’t want to live this way just as much as
you don’t understand why anybody would.
That’s the beauty of God’s Creativity flowing out through humanity. He made us all unique. Now as I have a family of my own, I’m
discovering that not only are people unique, but families are as well. Each family is different, and when that
family grows up and starts a new family, that one is unique from both of the
original families. It is a beautiful
thing, so many people being able to relate to each other as only that family
can. I used to believe that my family
got it right and all the others missed the mark. Now I know that it’s OK for you to spend your
money on other things or spend your time on other activities. Experience your family the way God made your
family, and I look forward to our family’s next big adventure in 99 days.
98 days and 8 hours.
