We are a
procrastinating people. We will put off
whatever we can as long as we can. In
fact, I meant to blog this on Thursday, and now it is finally happening on
Monday. At this point, I don’t really
know if I should shame us for putting things off, or congratulate us for our
creativity in finding new ways to wait until the last minute.
Normally, at this point
in the blog I make some kind of profound, spiritual point. I tried that, a few different varieties of it
in fact, but they all sounded either cheesy or judgmental, all the things I don’t
want this blog to be. God told us to do
all things for His glory, and I am choosing to believe that because that is
true I can also procrastinate for His glory as well. This doesn’t mean to be lazy, but it does
mean that if I want to sleep in a few extra minutes tomorrow, I’m going to, and
then when that snooze goes off I’m going to wake up and serve Him from that
point on. Monday, August 19, 2013
Snooze
I love the snooze
button on my alarm clock. What better
way to start your day than with procrastination. I have noticed that without fail my first
thought in the morning is “can I go back to sleep?” Those few extra minutes I gain from hitting
the snooze could be better spent doing many things, not the least of which would
be setting my alarm back ten minutes so that I can get better sleep and then get
up when my alarm goes off the first time.
I mean, my alarm clock is across the room from me, I’m already out of
bed, and yet I still hit that snooze and climb back under the covers.
