The more I play it, the
more I think they should have named it “Soul Crush” because that’s what it
often does to me. Trying over and over and
over and over again for days at a time to beat a level is exhausting. Never having enough moves or enough lives or
enough patience is draining. I hate it,
and yet I can’t stop playing it, even though it just leaves me feeling more
crushed every time. Sometimes, no matter
what I do, no matter how many awesome moves I make, I just can’t seem to win.
Sometimes life leaves
us feeling crushed. We feel as though no
matter how hard we try, life just doesn’t seem to work out. For some of us, no matter how hard we work,
we never seem to get that promotion. Or
no matter how much we give in a relationship, we seem to get nothing back. Or no matter how much we pray or follow God,
it’s like He doesn’t even notice us.
These are the moments when I have to remember that God is not an “instant”
God. All through the Bible, people have
had to wait on God’s timing, but when it was God’s timing He came through in unbelievable
ways. When we feel crushed by life, that’s
the moment when we should stop and listen to God, because He is quietly
whispering to us “keep going…keep going…I have big things in store for you… but
you have to keep going.” When life
crushes us, God seeks to fill us back up again with Himself.
Oh, wait, I gotta
go. I’ve got another life in Candy
Crush.
