The Trip Was Worth It

My last blog was about getting ready to leave on vacation.  We were gone for a while, and I’ve had some work to catch up on, but I wanted to give you an update on how things went.  We had a wonderful time at our second home, Walt Disney World.  The trip was everything I hoped that it would be.  The kids were great, even on the loooooong car ride home.  And best of all, we were there for a week, in the middle of the summer, and the longest we waited was 20 minutes for a brand new attraction.  I was so proud of myself for being able to navigate the crowds like that (after a few years away from WDW, I’ve still got it!)

But there was something that happened early in the trip that really meant a lot to me.  On the first day we were there, out of the blue, my four year old daughter turned to me and simply said “thanks Mommy and Daddy.”
That right there made everything worth it.  Every dollar spent.  Every hour in the car.  Every minute in the Florida sun.  Knowing that she was thankful for all we had done for her was a very special feeling.

As for me, I was thankful on my vacation as well.  Thankful that God has blessed us as He has.  I was thankful for my wonderful family.  It was hard not to feel blessed, and my prayer time reflected that while I was in the “Happiest Place on Earth.”  God loves to bless us.  He allows for hard times, but He makes room for special blessings as well.  And in those moments He wants us to be thankful.
